iPhone 4S Coming to China and 21 Other Countries Jan. 13

Apple fans in China and 21 other countries can snag the iPhone 4S on Jan. 13 for the first time.

The latest iPhone will land in mainland China 10 days before the Chinese New Year, Jan. 23. The iPhone 4S made its way to Hong Kong in early November 2011 and found instant popularity despite not featuring Mandarin Chinese as one of the languages, Apple Insider notes. Apple has said the iPhone 4S, as well as its personal assistant Siri, will support Mandarin in 2012.

“Customer response to our products in China has been off the charts,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. “With the launch in China next week, iPhone 4S will be available in over 90 countries making this our fastest iPhone rollout ever.”

In addition to China, the iPhone 4S will become available in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Botswana, British Virgin Islands, Cameroon, Cayman Islands, Central African Republic, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Grenada, Guam, Guinea Conakry, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Niger, Senegal, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, and Uganda.

The iPhone 4S’s price is universally suggested at $199 (U.S.) for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB model and $399 for the 64GB model. The same discounts are available on earlier models in the latest launch countries — iPhone 4 for $99 and iPhone 3GS for free — when you sign up for a two-year contract with a participating carrier. The device is available online through the Apple Store, Apple retail stores and Apple resellers.

The iPhone 4S launched in the U.S. Oct. 4, 2011 and became available for purchase Oct. 14.
