As shoppers in America brace themselves for the unofficial start of the holiday retail period known as 'Black Friday,' online retail giant Amazon announced on November 15 that its price comparison app Price Check, is now available for Android devices.
The free application, which has been available for iPhone users since 2010, enables shoppers to compare the prices of products in stores with the same products on Amazon.com in several ways.
Using the Price Check application, shoppers can scan the product barcode, take a picture of the product, speak or type the name of the product into the phone and the app will search Amazon.com for a matching product and compare prices between the two. Products can also be purchased directly from Amazon via the app.
The application, announced November 15 by Amazon, is available either via the Android market, or Amazon's own app store via the links below.
Online retailer eBay also recently updated their Android and iOS applications which also feature barcode-scanning technology enabling consumers to compare in-store prices with like-for-like products listed on the online auction site.
